Back to the Grind

The commute is well and truly under way again after my July holiday and I’m glad to say it is as enjoyable as ever. Thankfully I wasn’t too indulgent while off so am not carrying any excess baggage from it!

I managed to get to work every day for the first week without forgetting to pack anything. This is always a big relief because resuming after a break means the habit is not quite fully formed, so it’s easy to be forgetful. When starting out I did once forget to bring a shirt and had to sit in my scruffy cycling top all day…

Despite doing some big miles over the holidays I have found my legs to be getting a little tired, especially by the middle of the week. However, a nice weekend has them recharged and I’m good to go again this week.

My Heatflask image for July is a bit different to the usual trips back and fore to Edinburgh…

Here is the zoomed in version for the commutes:

July Stats

Statistics for the month of July are shown below. Only two weeks of commuting due to holidays, but an extra 300 miles cycled while away:

Days Commuted: 10
Distance Travelled: 693 miles (393 commuting)
Elevation: 29,431 ft
Time: 40h 20mins
Bikes used: 2

Sadly, an emergency repair job just before my holiday meant the costs for July were quite high (£170 in total). Check out the latest comparison on my How Much? page.
