About

Love riding bikes: commuting and taking part in a few other events, runs, triathlons etc. Currently I am fundraising for Papyrus, a suicide prevention charity in memory of my sister. This will involve the following:

  • Riding 200 miles in one go.
  • Dunwich Dynamo
  • Hopefully the Redbull 25 hours race.

How long have you been cycle commuting?

About 3 years ago i decided to start commuting to get fit the Dunwich Dynamo a through the night ride from Hackney London to Suffolk.

Your Commute

Used to commute a 40 mile round trip from Macclesfield, Cheshire to Manchester 4 times a week.

A change in job means that it’s now one 30mile round trip and 2-3 times a week. I still leave from Macclesfield and ride into into Stockport.

Terrain is 60% bridal way with the other 40% road. I ride whatever the weather whenever I can.

What is the best thing about Cycle Commuting?

Head space to think about the goings on in the day and de-stress after work before i get home.

Your bikes

Sold/donated all my other bikes and now I just have a do it all Vitus CX bike that i swap the wheels on depending on weather and route.

Any top tips?

Buying a couple of sets of wheels can provide a bit more versatility, especially if you have disc brakes. I’ve got three sets, 650b with 47c tyres, 700c with a gravel 35c tyre and a lighter 700c set with a road 32c tyres.

Also go tubeless.
