If you are anything like me you will know how important good food is:

  • It helps to keep you supplied with energy;
  • It provides the body with all the nutrients it needs;
  • It can taste amazing;
  • It gives the brain a boost.

All the above are crucial, but perhaps just as importantly to get me through the working day is the promise of something yummy to tuck into later on. I’m very fortunate that my wife keeps me supplied with nice baking. This week I had some delicious raspberry and peanut butter bars to munch on.

They really were great and I was going to share the recipe with you. However, at 3 pm today I felt myself flagging a bit so went into my drawer to get my supplies. I’d brought two days worth in a plastic tub yesterday.

My coffee was made and the thought of the warm caffeine washing down the soft, sweet but crunchy bars made me happy. As well as raspberry and peanut butter they also have banana, oats and chocolate in them. It’s quite a combination of taste and energy.

Anyway, after devouring one slice and starting to feel better because of it, I reached in for another. Lifting it up and turning it over I glanced down and was aghast to see the below in front of me…

Our office can get a bit warm as the day progresses. Obviously being stored in a plastic container for 2 days in these conditions was not good for the baked goods. Maybe I should have realized with all that fruit in them that they should probably get stored in the fridge. With the endurance test failed I don’t feel that I can put the recipe up sadly.

As much as I hate wastage there was no way I could eat them now. The disappointment I felt as they dropped into the bin was crushing. That’s two disappointments I’ve suffered now this week (see R.I.P Volt). OK, they are small setbacks in the grand scheme of things, but lets hope there is not a third before the week is finished!

    I can relate to your disappointment! I used to pack my breakfast oat muffins in a plastic bag and into my pack in the evening to save up time in the morning. One time I took them out of my pack at work and found a chunk of it eaten out by a mouse overnight :/
