May Heatflask

The month of May absolutely flew past. Although it was enjoyable in so many ways it felt like I had everything thrown at me from the elements. At the start of the month the commutes were a joy as we had amazing weather: nice blue skies, warm & dry and I even had mostly happy drivers surrounding me on the roads.

Sadly none of this continued for the full month. May just couldn’t make it’s mind up what it wanted to do. The blue skies turned grey and moody, the warm weather became almost wintry, the dry days became deluges and I ended up having annoying encounters with careless driving and binmen (Alertness)!

As you can see from the Heatflask image below, the commute took the usual routes along the middle of the map with a few outliers along the North and South. These were on particularly nice days when I detoured onto nice quiet roads. I love maps and there is something almost hypnotic about these.

May Stats

Statistics for the month of May are shown below. Almost a full month with only one day of holiday made for my highest monthly total yet in 2019:

  • Days Commuted: 22
  • Distance Travelled: 802.5 miles
  • Elevation: 30,269 ft
  • Time: 44h 50mins
  • Bikes used: 1

Once again there is good news regarding expenses. One set of brake pads for the boardman bike amounted to a total expense for May of £3!!! The cycle commute is once again moving further ahead in the comparison page (How Much?)
